Abstract The present research work shows the perceptive work directed on the fracture toughness and the effect of process parameters on Al6061-graphite particulate composites. The composition used is Al6061 as matrix material and 6, 9 and 12 wt.% of graphite as reinforcement. In this research, it is intended to optimize the fracture toughness parameters: composition of the composite, a/W ratios, and thickness of the specimen using Taguchi’s technique for the said composite material. Also, the effect of process parameters has also been studied using analysis of variance technique. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) exhibits that material composition will influence more on the fracture toughness of the material and also it is less influenced by the thickness of the specimen.
