Abstract In this work, we use an intuitionistic fuzzy Sumudu transform method for the modelling of mechanical vibrating system. This study is performed in fuzzy environment by considering fuzzy initial value problem under strongly generalized differentiability condition. The problem of a vibrating string which is a second order ordinary differential equation is considered for analysis with an initial condition in a fuzzified form and to show that the result under fuzzy environment is more generalized. The applicability of the proposed method is shown for distinct α, β- level cuts and the results are compared with the analytical solution by using Mathematica® software.
