Abstract This paper is a review of the analysis of the horizontal lighting level for a pedestrian public space, with an aim to detect changes in the technical lighting features ascertained after the operation period with regular maintenance. Through parallel analysis of results obtained by measuring in real life conditions and projected values, an insight is provided into the lighting quality transformation under the influence of the environment in the lighting system life cycle. The focal point of the analysis is on the assessment of the lighting system aging and on establishing consequences for ambiance values in terms of the pre-set built space structure. Research is conducted in an open space public area of the Belgrade coastline, within the open-formed residential blocks of Dorcol.
