Abstract

This paper considers mechanical behaviour of a titanium structure with regards to the determination of basic dynamic properties.

A numerical example is analysed for titanium shell structural models (the basic finite element has 20 degrees of freedom), with the equivalent bending stiffness in the basic plane of motion, primarily with regards to structural damping.

The obtained results show that structural damping of the considered titanium model is somewhat lower than that of the damping of models based on other analysed materials with different specific modulus of elasticity and in structures with a different nondimensional coefficient of structural damping.

Results are presented in tabular and graphical form.
