Abstract

This paper describes the use of digital stereometry in measuring strains on the surface. This can be achieved by comparing images of point distribution on faced surface at different load levels and thus introduced stresses, convenient for measuring strains at the macro level. The examples present the possibility to measure strain concentration in the vicinity of crack tip on the metallic sample and on bone tissue. By applying two video cameras and corresponding software the image of strain distribution can be obtained in different forms, in 2D and 3D formats.
