Abstract

The basic source of corrosion problems on the flame–fume side of boiler is a deposit produced from precipitation of combustion products. Fuel chemistry, operating conditions and the applied structural materials exhibit prime effects on deposit corrosivity. Conditions for deposit formation and some corrosive processes caused by the deposit on boilers fuelled by oil are considered here with an retrospective view on their control.
