THE ANALYSIS OF GEOMETRY AND WELDED JOINT HETEROGENEITY EFFECT ON CHARPY SPECIMEN BEHAVIOUR Miloš Dobrojević Aleksandar Sedmak Emhamed Argob Olivera Popović Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, Srbia and Montenegro |
Abstract The effect of geometry (notch shape, specimen size) and materials heterogeneity (mismatching in welded joint) on the Charpy specimen behaviour is analysed in the paper. Two- and three-dimensional stress analyses by finite element method (FEM) are applied in solving this problem, thus providing stress-fields and plastic deformation distribution in specimen, and presenting its behaviour. Keywords: heterogeneity of welded joint, matching effect, finite element method, stress analyses, standardized Charpy testing, subsized Charpy specimen |
