Abstract

The paper describes standard procedures for the evaluation of fracture mechanics parameters of welded joint by testing cracked specimens: fracture toughness KIc, crack opening displacement CTOD and path-independent J-integral. As an example, KIc, obtained by testing J-integral for Č4730 welded joint and the effect of heterogeneity of microstructure and mechanical properties is investigated.

Keywords: welded joint, weld metal (WM), heat-affected-zone (HAZ), fracture mechanics parameters
